Living Coral is the 2019 Color of the Year and brings to life this bust of Archimedes, the great mathematician of Hellenic Italy. Although as a native of Syracuse he was likely partial to orange, Archimedes would no doubt appreciate this color tribute to maritime life so important to his Mediterranean home. The Buoyancy Principle discovered by Archimedes is crucial to the coral life-cycle; ironically, the heating effects of sunlight as amplified by carbon emission may prove fatal to coral worldwide.
